crazy gorge drive down to castleton

sammy wandering the streets of castleton

Right! On a role! Bit shorter but thought I'd share, before I get into NZ holiday. Sam and I went up to Manchester, Sam had mentioned he would like to head up there and then there was the Rugby League World Cup thing happening which he also mentioned, so I thought I'd do a wee bit of surprising and get tickets hahaha. I'd never been to a rugby game before and what a game to pick. I felt sorry for them. Anyway, It was nice to get out of town for a bit, and especially nice to be around some greenery and rolling hills too.

We drove up on the Friday night, halfway, then carried on through an amazing national park and through 'Hope Valley' in the morning, it was all foggy and cliffy and pretty pretty. We headed to the Old Trafford place and got our seats (in the skies hahaha) and watched NZ sadly take a massive dive. Ah well.

The next day we drove home and managed to be going the direction of a congregation of paragliders, which was pretty cool to see. We walked up the hill to the top to watch them, there were probably about 30 of them up at the same time. Must be a sweet spot of wind up there. Then off again via Castleton, and stopped and had some delicious christmas scones and rum hot chocolates from a classic small town, upstairs loungeroom kinda cafe. Good stuff. Nice short break to get out of London!
