Job Time

Image
Okay so, I got the temp job for the summer I was talking about, looking after the 3 and 4 year olds with the 11 year old doing whatever. So the first week was good, awesome to be in a bed again, it’s a live in position for 8-9ish weeks till I’m off to Australia. They’re really nice and welcoming n all that, and Sams allowed over whenever he likes too. The first week was interesting, with the kids testing boundaries and all that, but by Friday I think I’d figured them out, and they’d figured me out and now we’re all on the same page. I hope. I did get an ‘I love you Alana’ from the boy on Friday.   There's heaps to do around their house, so I’m hoping to keep them occupied as hell till I finish. So on Friday Sam, Simon, Todd and Blair set off in the Transit for the beginning of a Euro trip, with Sam and Simon coming back from Amsterdam on Wednesday next week. Boooo I don’t get to go. Ah well. I can only imagine the boyez-timez-funz that will be happening. Jealous. So as they w...

Train trip

Image
On Thursday I had a job interview in the south of London in a place called Twickenham. It was about a 40 minute train trip out, so Sam and Simon decided to come out for a bit of an outing. We screwed up by not tagging our oyster cards out when we got to the little station (St Margarets) cos it had no barrier, and had to pay some stupid-person fee when we got back into Waterloo. But ah well. The interview went sweet, my references are obviously doing a  sweet job at replying about me - THANKS - so that was good. I think after the first interview (the day before) I semi got over the scaredom of going to someones house and trying to make them like you. It's still freaky but eh. Afterwards I went down to the pub Sam n Simon were waiting at and drinking Pimms. MMM. Something else, I've completely lost any tan I gained on the South East Asia mish, bummer. I also had an interview with a nice couple today, they have a 4 year old boy and a 3 year old girl, looking for a temp...

So we’ve been getting round a wee bit, our unlimited travel cards got well used in the week we had them.  We’ve been trying to use the bus more than the tube too, so we get an idea of where we are actually travelling when we go somewhere. A handy hint that the lady at britbound told us, wow what great value getting that was. Anyway, so they have these looong bendy buses here, they look funny compared to the other option which is a double decker. Boring. Sam had his interview on Friday, things went really well, and they’re going to get back to him, so fingers crossed all that works out. His interview was right by the Tate Modern art gallery, which is a big converted power station, so afterwards we went there. Via the millennium bridge, oo yeah, who remembers that one time we watched HP and I said I was gunna go there and take a photo? Well here it is: WooHoo. Later that evening the movie screening at the Heygate Estate was on (that's the big empty thing I mentioned a few...

a spot of gardening...

Image
So there's this massive empty estate over the road from C hâteau Steedman  that has little plots for peeps to go make vege gardens in, which Guy and Sophie have joined in on. You can read more about it  >HERE<  since I'm obviously skirting real information. They have another one else where too, thats a bit more established, but this one'll get thriving soon enough. Anyways, we went for a dwardle over there the other day and I took a few photes I thought I'd share... Yep. So not much of an update of London, we haven't really been up to much, eating lots of chips and hummus seems to be the only routine thing so far. Yeaaaah. Hopefully I'll have more fun things to write to yas soon yeh! OH I almost forgot, we booked a trip to Sweden in August, staying on a boat in the middle of Stockholm. YUSS! Very exciting stuff that.

Wow and

I just spell checked the lot finally, after moving it from note-pad to word and farrrrrrrr out there were a few hundred mistakes. So again, you'll have to excuse all of them and pretend it's all proper. I'll be taking more care from now on I imagine, now that I'm not writing on a bus or train or flight. So yeah.

London Tayown

Well here we are.   We've been here a few days now, and things are awesome so far. We have only almost got lost once,   seen alot of typical english things, taken very touristy snaps - as you will have noticed - and even seen some squirrels. We've been going between Todds house in Dollis Hill and Guy and Sophies in Elephant and Castle. Yes, Elephant and Castle is a place. I'm thankful they both have such comfy couches as I've been joeing the hell out every night, with the aid of alcohol or not. Tiring business this moving to the other side of the world. Everywhere we go there's some landmark that we are like hah at.  We met Todd after work the day after the night we got here, and the station we met him at was Westminster. So of course when we get out of the station, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, and Westminster Abbey are a stones throw away. Big Ben is not as big as I'd imagined, Parliament house is much bigger than I'd tho...

Wat Arun/Temple of Dawn Wat Pho/Temple of reclining Buddha The Grand Palace Fish spaaaargh So we get to our place on Kao San Rd, right in the middle of things. After dumping our things, we head out for some food and shopping at the night market that goes on in this street. I get a kebab from some street guy and yuuu-um. We pretty much just wander round looking at everything and buying a few random things, and getting harrassed by guys making the popping sound with their mouth and tryna get us to go to a ping pong show. No thanks, I've only heard crap things from everyone I've talked to about them on this trip. One day. Instead I go get my feet eaten by fish. Yep, these little fish nibble on your dead skin and make it all smooth. I thinnk to haev any really amazing results you'd have to be in the water for 2 hours, and I only had 15 minutes. It was really odd. Kinda ticklish. Really ticklish at times. Very weird. In the morning we have planned...
