To Koh Chang

Sam and the Karaoke man
Creepiest mannequin ever
Righto, up in the morning to sort out getting the bus to Koh Chang, we can't book from where we are staying to we head to Ekkamai bus station, and hurrah! Theres a bus leaving in 5 minutes. Well that worked out well. On we get, and are then handed little lunch boxes and a water, kinda of like what we got on our way to Luang Prabang. It's a 5/6 hour drive to Trat, where the ferry pier is that takes us to the island,a dn we stop off about half way at a food place where Sam has his first taste of real Thai food. Of course it's an epic feed of deliciousness. It's still raining which is a bummer, and being back in the land of itchy bites isn't fun either. Where is Claire and her deet obsession when I need her! My legs currently look like bubble wrap. Grossey.
Anywho, When we get to the ferry the rain really starts coming down, which is putting a downer on things, but then about 100 metres off shore, it stops and the sun comes out and that's the end of the rain! Perfect timing. Off the ferry to get a taxi, or Songthaew as I've found the ute-converted-taxis are actually called. We have to wait until there is 12 people before we can leave, but that doesn't take long. We pass a sign that reads, 'Please do not feed the monkeys' on the way, and there are hotels whos fences have smashed glass bottles cemented into the top...Monkeys must really be a bother here...After we get to our hotel we go for a walk arond the small town bit, we are staying on the 'White Sand Beach' area, and its quite popular. We end up at a place called Thors, and hello Thai green curry and Chang beer, my dear old friends. MM-mm. So tasty. We are sitting there and the music playing is the Lion King, which reminds me of many a night listening to Clairence and Mash singing Scars song. Oh you two eh. The place is run by what the Lonely Planet accurately describes as a 'delightfully camp thai man', who is entertaining the children by throwing scraps into the sea and watching a bunch of fish swarm up to get it. We have a few more beers here, then head along to some empty place beside our hotel and I never knew Sam would be into it, but Karaoke. Sam has 3 songs down then oh dear he pushes me up and boy am I glad there is only 3 people here, and that I am drunk because I do have a go. It's terrible, but never mind, I figure none of them ripped their ears off so they must get it all the time. Next door to another bar, where Sam plays pool and I play this game called Jackpot with a bunch of Thai girls.
Hungover the next day, we move to a bungalow thing beside the beach, and joined onto Thors. Then we get a scooter and head out to Lonely Beach, a couple Kms away. It wasn't exactly lonely, there were alot of people here. We spend the day swimming and have pina coladas and it's just so nice here. The water is alot clearer than back at white sand beach, and there are wutie a few people swimming or lying on lilos, which you can hire from a lady sitting in the shade.
We accidentally passed the waterfall trail on our way down here, so we go up to it on our way back, only to find it closes at 4.30, and it is now 5pm. Tomorrow I guess! Oh and on the way back we stopped at a cafe called Art, and had some yuuum banana smoothies, and Sam went to check out the student art exhibitions that was in a shed behind it. Pretty cool stuff. For dins we went back to Thors, since we are staying right beside it, then a lazy night. Was good!
