Menorca

Megan and I went on a mini break to Menorca for four days at the end of June. We flew out in the morning and hired a wee car, which turned out to be one of them weird 'padded' sides cars. We lovingly nicknamed it the armoured car. It was a tad rainy when we landed, but cleared up enough in he afternoon to go to this place called Lithica, which is an old quarry turned into some orchards and gardens. It was really rather cool, it cost €5 to get in but was good for an afternoon of wandering.
Es Mercadal in basically in the centre of the island and if you go to the lookout up El Toro (the tallest hill on the island) you can basically see a 360 degree view. Probably the only 'busy' place we came to while there, but even still, not really.
It's so nice and quiet on the island, not much traffic, no lines and queues and the beaches we went to were relatively quiet. We did try to get away from the busy resort ones to recommended beaches - Cala Macarella & Macarelleta, the latter being a nudist beach after a short cliff top walk, which is steep in places but also awesome.
There is also this walk, the Cami de Cavalls, which goes around the whole of Menorca that we did a little bit of one of the sections while there, and there was one spot that smelt really strongly of curry which was an interesting time. I didn't know what a curry plant looked like until just now but there must have been some growing near us, as we were on a rocky cliffy beachy area and definitely not near a restaurant. Cool story bro. Anyway it would be awesome to go back and do the whole thing one day, so if anyone out there is keen for a hike lemme know haha...
