Last 2 days in Koh Chang

Image
My rice came shaped like a bear hah The rando feast The 'ham' in my ham sammy Second last day in Koh Chang, Sam gets up early to go on an elephant trek, and gets to swim with them too. I sleep in, sit on the beach and read and just do nothing much at all. When Sam gets back looking chuffed, we head off for that waterfall that we missed out on the day before. There is a walk, less than a km, but it's thin and slippery and rocky, but beautiful all the same. At the end of the track you have to walk through the water to get to a rocky sitting spot where you can jump off and swim around, and a rope to help you get out cos it's quite slippery. The water is nice and cold here, the coldest I've felt since being here, and it's so refreshing I don't wanna get out. Specially after the hot walk. Sam goes right up to where the waterfall drops, and it takes you floating out to the lil swimming spot. We spend the afternoon there and just when we are leaving it star...

Monkey barrier Thors view Sam and the Karaoke man   Creepiest mannequin ever  Righto, up in the morning to sort out getting the bus to Koh Chang, we can't book from where we are staying to we head to Ekkamai bus station, and hurrah! Theres a bus leaving in 5 minutes. Well that worked out well. On we get, and are then handed little lunch boxes and a water, kinda of like what we got on our way to Luang Prabang. It's a 5/6 hour drive to Trat, where the ferry pier is that takes us to the island,a dn we stop off about half way at a food place where Sam has his first taste of real Thai food. Of course it's an epic feed of deliciousness. It's still raining which is a bummer, and being back in the land of itchy bites isn't fun either. Where is Claire and her deet obsession when I need her! My legs currently look like bubble wrap. Grossey. Anywho, When we get to the ferry the rain really starts coming down, which is putting a downer on...

A couple more photos from the boat trip first... From one of the museums, War room stuff The 'Combat duty bedroom of the President' In case you are unfamiliar with such things Claire! 6am we roll into town, get a taxi and head towards where Sam stayed last time he was here. As soon as we are out of the car, a lady walks up and insists we stay at her place. Cos we only need it for the day not the night we get a bit of a discount. Thinnest stairwell ever, and we are on the top floor. Out for breakfast then we plan to follow the Lonely Planets 1 day walking tour around the city. I get to wear my new shoes, and socks! Ho-ly, socks! What a  treat. First time in 4 weeks. My old trusty sandals fell off my feet in Nha Trang, and I had to get some jandals (awesome ones) but they still need some breaking in time, and for the walking we planned on doing it didn't seem like a good idea to wear them. Didn't matter anyway, we ended up getting on them biking men seat ...

Snorkel time...

So this morning we get up early and go to some place called Chopsticks for breakfast, before we get picked up for our second attempt at a boat trip that includes snorkelling. The van is fast filling up with Vietnamese and it looks like it's going to be a repeat of the Cham Island boat trip, but then we pick up 2 Australians on their honeymoon. They're nice and friendly, and easy to talk to so the sitting around and waiting (for nothing it seems) went quickly, then we finally take off for the first spot, Mut Island. Old Mut eh. We get towels handed out and then up to the front to find flippers that fit and a snorkel that works. The Vietnamese have all got life jackets on as well, and I'm not too sure why. We don't put them on. After a small talk of how to blow out when you come up, it's jump in and be back in an hour an a half. Ok then. In we get, and Sam grabbed a dud snorkel and has to go back to finding one that goes, while I attempt to get m...

Vinpearl Land

This is the monstrosity, while everyone is upside down ^  So after the bus ride we go straight into the place by the bus stop- also $10 a night for both of us- and sleeeeeep some more. Then we stop off at a German Sausage shop for lunch, random yes, but yum as, then down to the beach for the afternoon. It's nice on this beach, there's a constant breeze blowing, which makes the heat more bearable, even tho we were in the shade half the time. Went for a walk down the beach markets at night, then to yet another Indian place for tea. The next day we go to Vinpearl Island, to the themepark called Vinpearl Land. Before we go get our scooter, we skype with Mash to give Scotty his birthday pres, which was some shoes we had made for him in Hoi An. Hopefully your not put off by the custom bit Scott! I thought it was funny. Anyway, was good to see old Danny Glover, even though he apparently smelt bad. So, scootering, off to the gondola over to Vin...
