Vinpearl Land
This is the monstrosity, while everyone is upside down ^
So after the bus ride we go straight into the place by the bus stop- also $10 a night for both of us- and sleeeeeep some more. Then we stop off at a German Sausage shop for lunch, random yes, but yum as, then down to the beach for the afternoon. It's nice on this beach, there's a constant breeze blowing, which makes the heat more bearable, even tho we were in the shade half the time. Went for a walk down the beach markets at night, then to yet another Indian place for tea.
The next day we go to Vinpearl Island, to the themepark called Vinpearl Land. Before we go get our scooter, we skype with Mash to give Scotty his birthday pres, which was some shoes we had made for him in Hoi An. Hopefully your not put off by the custom bit Scott! I thought it was funny. Anyway, was good to see old Danny Glover, even though he apparently smelt bad. So, scootering, off to the gondola over to Vinpearl Island, I find I might be afraid of heights. This things high! And swaying. And the sea is SO FAR DOWN. But then I get over it. When we get over there, we see a ride about to take off, so we run over there not really thinking about what it's going to be. HOLY CRAP. HO-LY crap. I just about pooped my pants. Theme park rides are just not for me I don't think. We assumed it may just go round and round, by the looks of things, but oh no no no, diagonally up in the air, then we hang upside down while slowy turning round. I have a too good imagination of every possible way I could smash into the ground below me, twisted broken metal and all, and if we were up there for 4 more minutes I'd probably have started to cry. I was all sweaty cos it was another scorching cloudless day, but gravity had me slipped out of my seat and scrambling to hold on to the bars that come down over your front, and everything was slipping and oh geez just never again. Then we went on a rollercoaster, small, seemingly harmless looking thing. I now hate them too. It was so small you could have thrown a stone over the top of it, but me + fast things are not a good combo. Even the swinging seat ride that's for children! There was a cliff right at the edge of the ride and all I kept thinking was, if my seat unclips and I fly out over there...shudder.
Anways, over to the waterpark side of things. It's awesome, waterslides galore, the first one we go on dumps you into a bowl thing that you slide around and fall out the bottom into a pool. Then we get into the 'Lazy river'. MMM lazy. We have Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Ace of Base and the Spice Girls on loop to keep our ears entertained. Just outside of the water park is the beach and we head out there so Sam can check how much his Jetski dream will cost (too much) and I finally experience 'white powder sand'. I'm surprised it hasn't all blown away its so fine. The steps up to the slides are made of terrible grate metal tho, and after a while my feet are hating on it. The last slide we go on is a rainbow and fast and you get on a sled thing. Coool. After the slides, a big walk, some dinner and back over the gondola to the scooter park to head home. Very fun day.
