A day and night in Chiang Mai
Now that I have a plug to use, and 2 hours to kill before the train gets to Chiang Mai, it's time to start writing this stuff so you guys know we aren't lost. So, I write days 1-3 then Mash reads it. He wants more about his foot mentioned...Wow yes its very puffy, it looks like a cankle, but please dont ask anymore locals the 'good/bad' thing anymore. So we Wake up on the train, it's so relaxing sleeping on a train, it's like being rocked to sleep. The moment I open my curtains there's a guy offering orange juice. Then coffee. Then sliced pineapple. Awesome, why can't regular life include people offering these things to me?
When we get off the train there's sposed to be someone with a sign waiting for us, but we cant find anyone the station is emptying quickly...hmmmm then I see a van with the name of the place we are staying on it drive up and am like, 'yay we're saved there it is' and we go get in and turn up at our backpackers. Rooms not ready so we wait in the bar, and while were there this lady comes up and says she was waiting for us at the train station and we weren't there, but thats ok come with her cos her boss (travel agent not mafia warlord) would like to meet with us and lets go. Allllrighty then lets. The boss lady sorts us out with the finer deats of the trek, and a trip to Pai for 2 nights and accomodation, easier than us organising it I guess.
We head back to our place and sit, all afternoon, just sit in the bar/resturant part. Lunch then sitting. It was incredibly warm and we couldn't be bothered getting all super sweaty and tired walking round for the afternoon so lazy times it was. There was a brief swimming jaunt, but as it was a less then 2 metre deep pool and you couldnt see past 3cm down due to murk, I chose to avoid that one. Sitting was good, and gave me a chance to out them first few on here, and try skype y'all. Come late evening we ventured out to one of the places the tour lady had pointed out as awes to see, the night bazzarr/shopping/eats and then the street dedicated to flower stalls. The flower stall street was amazing, all these crazy ones I'd never seen before and some I had but only in pictures (small town gaaal). I felt a right old tourist there. Then over to the food stall street to get the best Thai Green ever, F-U Wellington shops you gots nothing on them.
Back home for some cheap-as-chips-only-alot-cheaper-than-them-actually cocktails, then off to bed to get a good nights sleep before the trek the next morning. Pity there were Germans arguing in the next room, someone who apparently couldn't operate the open/close funtion of a door, and a broken air conditioner that spurted water out every so often.
