So I'm on the flight as I write this first bit, 6 hours of flight time in. Not to shabby so far. Kiddies have been great - touch wood - and at the moment most people are asleep. Which I thought was weird, as in England it's only 7.20pm and in Colorado it's about lunchtime, but I guess, beat that jetlag before it hits or something. Anyway, I can't figure out if we are in business or first class, which is hilarious in itself, I would say first but I heard the guy across the aisle from me say something about it being business, so who knows what it's like up front! From where I'm sitting, in my creepy but handy single person seating arrangement - yes, that's right, them weird seats that fold down to be a bed. How. Handy. There was one time in Vietnam when me and Sam had to buy a business-class flight back to Thailand, and that was blowing my mind at the difference, and that was only a 2 hour flight. I feel like it should sadden me that one of the fanciest looking meals I've had was on a plane. It was 3 course. 4 even. And really delicious. So only 3 hours left. The children are starting to get hungry tho, and I can't yet smell any dinner proceedings, so hopefully they get a move on and turn out something yum soon...
USA! Made it. Straight off the bat I wanna laugh due to the lack of sleep on the plane and the 4 cops watching everyone walk off the flight. Black uniforms, hah! And then the customs lady. Amm-er-i-caaan. Gosh I'm such a dweeb. I went to bed at 7.30pm, which was about 2.30am England time, after working a 17 hour day due to the time zone change. Wasn't too bad actually. Waking up at 3am ready to start the day however hahaha...not so much. First landmark I get pointed out is the Rocky Mountians just by the airport. Tick one for American sightseeing. I woke up this morning kinda confused why I was getting short of breath just moving about the room, turns out being at 5420 feet above sea level = kinda a lot, and that'll do it to ya. And when we go up the mountain it's going to be doubly as high. Huh, how've I not known about this before. It's a strange feeling.
So I went outside to take some photos of the snow, not too many as I'm not sure how waterproof my boots are, I'll have to borrow some gummies later on and really get out there. The snow is really deep out there and the back yard of the house we are staying in is a golf course, so there's miles of un-touched snow just waiting for me to jump all over it. I'll get there.
And tomorrow after breakfast we are off up to the mountain. Breckenridge.
