Well, happy birthday Todd. Today we're heading to Valletta, the capital of Malta to do a bit of touristy sight seeing, and to unsuccessfully find new togs. After much discussion of what 'P between the lines only' meant, and finding a spot of wifi - quick, lets all have a game of 'draw something' while we can - Sam parks the car at the bottom of the hill we want to be on top of. Alana's lazy-o-meter skyrockets, shoulda dropped me at the top. Anyway, tourist photo, water + rustic city background + blue sky, check. It really is beautiful tho. It kinda reminded me of Barcelona, in the cobbled streets all smooshed together sense, and the creamy yellow kinda colours of everything.

First on the list is to eat some food, and we stop off in a square jam packed with tables and chairs, I think I put a photo in of the crazy trees all lining it. There doesn't seem to be and table number, who knows how they go about remembering what table got what, but they did a pretty good job. Well done to their brains. I had traditional Maltese minestrone soup with bacon. Which was pretty tasty, like regular minestrone but spicy. Eating bright red drippy soup wearing a white dress. Hmm. Iced coffee, and off we go. So many good looking buildings, but it's getting to be around 1-2pm, and everythings closing up for nap time, and the streets start getting bare and empty...so awesome, I wish it were like that here. 'Siesta time! Close up EVERYTHING' You'll have noticed the majority of the photos are of random buildings, I can't explain why, and they're not significant really. Just people houses. Except for the one of Todd and Lara Croft. An awkward 'grab her boob Todd' moment when some poor elderly people just happened to be right behind me, shaking their heads. Uncouth youth. Am I still classed as youth? I suppose not. The one problemo with all the large cobbled sidewalks? After so many people walking on them, they get smooth. And slippery.

We get to the side of Valletta that overlooks the harbour, and Toddy spots me a new towel. Harry Potter. Heck. Yes. I buy it (€5) and am feeling kinda chuffed I bought something, and this gal walks past with the deathly hallows tattooed on her back. I think the universe is trying to hint at another marathon, I dunno, but it was great. We head past a slew of statues and buildings and fountains and monuments and to the upper Barrakka gardens. I may or may not have the guy from Mortal Kombat bouncing around in my head. Crazy good views.

Brief description of Valletta anyone?

Brief Description

The capital of Malta is inextricably linked to the history of the military and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem. It was ruled successively by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and the Order of the Knights of St John. Valletta’s 320 monuments, all within an area of 55 ha, make it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world.

Moving on to beach time. Mellieha Bay, one of Maltas only Sandy beaches. Sunbathing, swimming, general sun-happy behaviour. Few underwater snaps, the Mediterranean being so clear and all. One semi un-nerving thing being the massive sign with 'non-hurty' jellyfish (about 10 kinds) and 'big hurty' jelly fish (about 6 kinds) to look out for. Oh yay, thanks for reminding me how freaky Portuguese man-of-war and box jellyfish look. But seriously, thanks. I didn't know you weren't supposed to put fresh water on stings. Slushy cocktails, then home to buy the cheapest but also really good wine ever (3 for €5) then out to St Julians for a night of drinking too much and watching some singing game show. Sweden wins.  Put my goodshirt on. Pop my collar.

Phewf and that's all I can fit in, if anyones actually still reading. Until tomorrow.
