sweet first day
I begin at 3.30am on Friday. Yep. 3.30am. Why oh why would we pick such a crappy flight time as the 6.40? Who the hell knows. After being picked up at 3.30 to get to the airport on time, I think we all went to sleep on the flight there. 'We all' being me Sam and Toddy.

Bam, 29 degrees. Which doesn't sound all that amazing, seeing as London was having a massive heat wave at the time too, but yusssss! And not sweltering humidity either. Into the rental car (best decision ever) and time to have a look around this rock! Oh me oh my is it PREEEETTY. On the perilous drive from the airport, where there's diversions and no road markings and cars gong where they please, I'm looking out the window with the face like I had entering >Marsellies<. Which is to say that it was really rather stunning to look at. It's about 316 km² according to google, but the number of cathedrals and churches and big fancy old buildings you can see in the distance and popping up between the houses is pretty amazing. We sort of went on a wee tiki-tour drive, really handy that they drive on the left there too, and in right hand drive cars so it wasn't too difficult to get a hang of. Mass traffic jam that we tried to get out of but managed to do a look and get stuck on the other side of it hah. Went to check in to our hotel, but apparently not allowed to till 4 (huh? since when) so we had soem lunch by the pool (largest caeser salad ever) and went on our first beach excursion.

A little bay I forget the name of then Golden Bay. Nice and home-reminiscent there. Theres a 'car park monitor' who's after tips for pointing us to one of the many empty spaces in the lot. Thanks, couldn't've found it without ya man. It is niiice to be in the sunshine on a beach again. The one thing I don't like about London. No beach. But anyway. We head up to the top to a sort of look out spot that looks down over the bays, and out over the Mediterranean and I'm thinking this is alright.  Back to check in and our room is massive, there's a hallway and everything. We got a beach view kinda room - sweet - and go down to the mini-mart on the first floor and get some cheese and crackers and Cisk, the local beer. Good balcony people watching times. Funny how many people were going the wrong was up our street.

One sweet sunset later and we head of for dinner and a drink in the next bay around. BuÄĦibba which is pronounced Bu-jibb-buh, not Booga-ba hahahaha. Aye Sam. Looking around once we get there, this must be where the cruise ships drop the families and the grannys on hundred year anniversary trips. We fit right on in. One name dropping waiter and a mean feed later and it's time to walk home. So nice and warm still. To be continued...
