Hey lets rent a car without booking it
Sam and Mash trying out the outdoor gym..
how good is Vila Nova de Milfontes?
heck yeah!
oh how bloody funny
bit blurry, i was too slow
Shall we? Well, we will try. We aaallllmost managed to book it the night before but ended up putting it off till a bit too late. So we try 3 places and nothing, eeeek, and then good old Europcar pulls through and has a nice little Renault Modus for us. Yuss. Deep breaths Alana, you've done it before, driving on the right hand side, sitting in the left ain't so bad. Easy. Funny going for the gear stick with your left hand, and hitting the door. Ah well.
So we puzzle our way out of Lisbon over this insane bridge, the Vasco da Gama Bridge, which is "the longest Cable-stayed bridge in Europe and one of the largest of its kind in the world" according to a quick google. So yeah. It was exciting to drive onto. Once we were certain we were heading in the right direction, time to figure out where abouts we wanted to go...
First stop is Sines for a beer and a swim. Or in my case an espresso and a bit of sunning. So. Hot. Cloudless sky. Calm waves. So good. Pile back in the car after a wee break, and keep on trucking. We planned to be on the coast for a bit, but accidentally took the inroad and didn't find our way back out till Porto Covo, where we stopped for lunch. Italian incase anyone is dying to know. Tried to be a bit of a tourist and do some shopping (bought nothing), laughed at the giant rack of wooden willies (WTF PORTUGAL), and on we go.
Next stop, a nice cliffy beach at the mouth of a river, in Vila Nova de Milfontes. More lying in the sun, walking, ooh ahh-ing, and shaking the sand off to get back in the car and on we go again. Tho this time I'm tired of driving, and hand over to Mash. I forgot to mention I started reading the book 'The Help' this day also, and boy is it goood. Anywho, so between me reading and looking out the window, we end up at a dead end cliff face at sunset. Awesome. Lets get some jumping photos.
A few hilaaaaarious jumping photos later (where I look like a basketballer going in for a slam dunk, where mash is stationary while me and Sam get crazy beside him, and one, ahem, funny one where Sam gets his bum out and Mash gives himself a big shlong - shadows are amazing things aren't they) and it's on to Lagos!!
Maccas for internet and booking of a hotel - which by the way, was ALOT cheaper than a hostel...I guess with hostels you'd be all for meeting peeps blah blah blah, but as I'd rather save a buck, I'd say it pays to keep an eye on how much they are, if you're looking for your own room, with your own blacony/bathroom/lounge. It worked out sweet. Maybe only cos we had 3 people, but yeah. We ended up at the Meia Praia Beach Club hotel, which was awesome. Balcony in the afternoon sun, the beach out the front, and in between the beach and the hotel? A sweet pool with loungers. Don't mind if I do.
But yeah! Righto! Next up is a bit of Lagos, incluuuuuding SURF LESSON WOOOO
